College, Career, & Life Readiness Center (CCLRC)

VISION

The Olson Family Foundation College, Career, & Life Readiness Center (CCLRC) has a vision of ensuring that 100% of Westside High School students are accepted to their best fit college or start their successful career path with a job offer in hand.

WHY THE CCLRC?

• Creates a dedicated area for students to connect with each other, colleges, and employers to generate awareness and energy about their post-secondary journey.
• Highlights Westside High School to colleges and businesses and lets them know that Westside students are more prepared for post-secondary success and will be a value-added asset to their academic institution or business.
• Creates a more focused and intentional school counseling space will improve the quality and scope of post-secondary counseling services.
• Creates a consistent, modern, and open space for students and families to learn about post-secondary options upon graduating from Westside High School.

STUDENT & FAMILY SERVICES

• College application boot camps and resume workshops to help students put their best foot forward in their post-high school life.
• Lunch & Learn sessions where alumni and members of the local workforce can speak to students about specific careers and industries.
• Job Fairs where students can apply and interview for jobs on the spot for gainful employment.
• College admission seminars where students and families can learn from local, regional, and national university admission representatives on what it takes to get into their schools.
• Entrepreneurship and Innovation Lab allow for students to gain hands on and relevant skills they will encounter in the workforce.
• Seminar classes that focus on the social and emotional well-being of students.

COLLEGE PREP SERVICES

• Student/Family College Planning Meetings to learn about the application process, financial aid, and all the services that Westside can provide families.
• College Planning Nights for students and families in all grades to focus on what they should be preparing for in the current school year.
• College Bootcamps to help students get a head start on the Common Application, Letters of Recommendation, and essay writing.
• College application essay proofreading to help students know what essay readers are looking for.
• FAFSA Completion Night to help students and families understand what the FAFSA is and why it needs to be completed.
• College representative visits to allow students to learn more about the college and whether or not it would be a good fit for them.
