Senior Honors Night to Take Place May 7

Posted April 11, 2019 The WHS Senior Honors Night will take place on Tuesday, May 7.  The event will start at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. Family and friends of seniors are invited to attend.  A cookie and coffee reception will follow.

Student Artists Featured at Excellence in Design

Posted April 11, 2019 Several of Westside High School’s talented student artists will display their work at one of Omaha’s most popular shopping spots: Regency Court! The shopping center at 120 Regency Parkway will be host to the 12th Annual Excellence In Design Senior Art Show from April 25 through April 28. The Opening Ceremony will take place on Thursday, April 25, from 5 to 7 p.m.  Presentations will start at 5:15 p.m.

Tennis Program to Hold Craft Fair on April 27

Posted April 11, 2019 The WHS tennis program will hold a craft and vendor fair as a fundraiser on Saturday, April 27.  The event will run from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the high school. Organizers expect more than 100 vendors.  Cost to attend is $2.

WHS TEACHER HONORED WITH STATE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR AWARD

Posted April 10, 2019 Beth Cosentino, Family & Consumer Studies teacher at Westside High School, has been named the 2019 Rookie of the Year by the Nebraska State Education Association. Cosentino was nominated by fellow Westside High teachers Mary Jo Losen and Alice Smith. ATSC Wins Hall of Fame Orlando

Posted March 26 The Amazing Technicolor Show Choir represented Westside and Nebraska at the Heart of America Show Choir Invitational in Orlando, Florida the weekend of March 23.  This was the final competition of their show choir season and capped an amazing journey.  ATSC was named Grand Champions and earned captions for Best Show Design and Best Vocals.  ATSB was also named Best Band of the competition. WHS Quiz Bowl Team Wins NAQT

Posted March 11 On March 9, the WHS varsity quiz bowl team traveled to Savannah, Missouri, and participated in their first National Academic Quiz Tournament. They competed with 18 other teams from the Missouri area.  The team went 5-0 in their round-robin pool and earned a number three seed in the tournament. They then went on to beat the number two team and the number one team during tournament play. The result? They won the…

Art Department Selling T-Shirts in Support of Excellence in Design

Posted Feb. 11 The WHS Art Department has t-shirts for sale in support of its annual Excellence in Design Senior Art Show.  Ordering can be done online at this link.  Cost is $15 a shirt. Each year, seniors in the department are invited to participate in the fourth quarter art show. BOARD NAMES TWO FINALISTS FOR SUPERINTENDENT

Posted Jan. 11 The Westside Community Schools Board of Education has selected two Superintendent finalists for the district. They are: Dr. Mike Lucas, Superintendent, York Public Schools (Nebraska) Dr. Melissa Poloncic, Superintendent, Douglas County West Community Schools (Nebraska) These candidates visited Westside Community Schools Tuesday and Wednesday for interviews with Board members.
