Westside Community Schools, the Westside Foundation, and Nebraska Furniture Mart are delighted to announce a new partnership to create the Nebraska Furniture Mart School of Entrepreneurial Thinking at Westside High School. Nebraska Furniture Mart will invest $150,000 into a 2-year pilot fully immersing students into the business world to learn entrepreneurial skills, leadership, critical thinking, problem-solving, communication and corporate insight as they prepare for future careers. Warrior Theatre Presents The Wolves

“The Wolves” is a brand new, debut play by Sarah DeLappe. An Off-Broadway hit and a 2017 Pulitzer Prize Finalist, the play follows a girls indoor soccer team as they warm-up for games over the course of a season. Warrior Theatre will present the play on Thursday, November 16 at Westside High School at 5:30 p.m. and November 17-19 at Westside Middle School at 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students.

Seniors Jon Gouger, Clara Lamb and Quinn Weidemann will attend Division I schools on athletic scholarships in the fall of 2018. WHS senior named Questbridge Finalist

Senior Madeleine Rauhauser has been named a finalist for the QuestBridge program, a full four-year scholarship worth more than $200,000 at America’s most elite universities. QuestBridge is a non-profit program linking high-achieving, deserving students with educational and scholarship opportunities at leading U.S. colleges and universities. This year, an estimated 15,606 students applied for the QuestBridge program. Only a third of those students are finalists, with only 17 percent coming from Midwest schools.

The Shield Yearbook Staff wants to make sure that you know about yearbook sales this year. 9-12 Grade Students: If you would like your student to be guaranteed a yearbook, you will have to order them by April 1st. Cabaret Night set for Nov. 5

Cabaret Night is a fundraiser for the Westside Vocal Music Parents Association, and it is set for Sunday, Nov. 5. Proceeds directly support students through student scholarships, equipment purchases and other expenses. All WHS vocal music students perform for Cabaret. Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” Coming to WHS

Warrior Theatre will stage William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” on Oct. 12, 14, and 15.  Shows on Thursday and Saturday, Oct. 12 and 14, start at 7 p.m.  The Sunday, Oct. 15, show is a 2 p.m. matinee. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. “Twelfth Night” is a romantic comedy.
