The Shield Yearbook Staff wants to make sure that you know about yearbook sales this year. 9-12 Grade Students: If you would like your student to be guaranteed a yearbook, you will have to order them by April 1st. Cabaret Night set for Nov. 5

Cabaret Night is a fundraiser for the Westside Vocal Music Parents Association, and it is set for Sunday, Nov. 5. Proceeds directly support students through student scholarships, equipment purchases and other expenses. All WHS vocal music students perform for Cabaret. Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” Coming to WHS

Warrior Theatre will stage William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” on Oct. 12, 14, and 15.  Shows on Thursday and Saturday, Oct. 12 and 14, start at 7 p.m.  The Sunday, Oct. 15, show is a 2 p.m. matinee. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. “Twelfth Night” is a romantic comedy.


Parent-Teacher Conferences Set for Oct. 16 and 17

Parent-Teacher conferences will take place at WHS on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 16 and 17 from 4-8 p.m.  The first quarter of the 2017-18 school year ends on Oct. 19

Westside’s DECA chapter is teaming up with Fusion Medical Staffing, Kirsch Transportation, and others in the metro area to send supplies to the victims of Hurricane Harvey. On Thursday, September 14, student volunteers will load a semi-truck full of donations previously collected to be sent to Conroe, Texas. Once the items are delivered, Kiwanis volunteers of the Texas-Oklahoma district will sort and distribute the donations as needed. DECA students and advisors plan to collect donations…


Powder Buff and Powder Puff Events Take Place in Early Sept.

The Powder Puff football game and Powder Buff dance competition both happen in early September.  Powder Buff is set for Thursday, Sept. 7, at 6:30 p.m.  Powder Puff will kick off at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 11. Both events raise funds for local charities.  


Homecoming Includes Parade, Pep Rally

The WHS Homecoming Parade will start at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13.  The route will begin at the south parking lot of WHS, south on 88th St., east on Hickory St. and north on 85th Ave. to the main parking lot. Social Media Pitfalls Presentation Takes Place Aug. 24

WHS will host a presentation focused on social media and its challenges on Thursday, Aug. 24.  The flyer, “Guide to Social Media Pitfalls for Families,” is attached below.  The event runs from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium.
